Job summary

Finnegan is seeking a Patent Paralegal II to support the IP Operations team with filing preparations, deadline management, and drafting related correspondence for patent applications. The role offers two shifts: 9:00–5:30 or 11:00–7:30, with potential flexibility for the latter based on business needs and manager approval.

The position demands a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and strong knowledge of USPTO procedures, international patent rules, and electronic filing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years of patent prosecution experience in a professional services or law firm environment; OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of five years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm environment required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of international and USPTO patent law rules, procedures, and requirements.
• Experience with Electronic Filing USPTO procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare responses to USPTO notices and office actions, IDS, and fees.
• Review files and prepare Information Disclosure Statements for US and international patent applications.
• Prepare shell amendments for attorneys in response to office actions.
• Reconcile invoices and other financial documents per firm procedures.
• Mentor and train staff in patent prosecution workflows.
