Our client, a global law firm, is seeking a patent attorney or counsel with a background in wireless technology. This is a non-partnership track role.
Billable hours- 1,800
Schedule- Hybrid 3/2
Locations- Open in Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Orange County offices
Responsibilities:
• Draft patent applications and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Analyze scientific or technical documents, including previously published patent documents, to assess an invention or issued patent.
• Draft detailed descriptions of inventions in precise legal terms (patent drafts), which form the basis for patents to be granted by patent offices in various parts of the world.
• Communicate and act as a liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office in connection with all aspects of the patent application process.
• Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors.
• Keep up to date with legal developments in the intellectual property field.
• Work closely with lawyers to support patent litigation, perform due diligence, and support other legal activities.
Qualifications:
* 5-10 years of patent experience.
* A bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent discipline.
* Must be admitted to the USPTO.
* Law firm experience is preferred.
* Relevant experience in drafting and prosecuting wireless-related patents (e.g., 3G, 4G, 5G, or other standards-related telecom technologies).
*Experience with patent litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings is a plus.
* Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited school.
