Job Title: Patent Agent

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm with offices across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking a Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property Practice Group. The role involves preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.

This position can be based in Boston, Chicago, or Philadelphia, with a hybrid work schedule.

The Patent Agent will report to an intellectual property partner and collaborate with other partners in the group. Responsibilities include:

1. Performing patent searches and investigating inventorship issues.
2. Managing invention disclosures and reviewing them for patentability.
3. Assessing prior art for qualification and applicability.
4. Analyzing scientific and technical documents for patentability.
5. Drafting patent applications and managing e-filing processes.
6. Converting provisional and foreign applications appropriately.
7. Responding to office actions and assisting with prosecution strategies.
8. Conducting interviews with USPTO examiners and preparing appeals.
9. Preparing petitions for reexamination, reissue, IPR, and CBM.
10. Communicating with clients regarding inventions and patent claims.
11. Providing patent prosecution training.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, at least 2 years of patent prosecution or examination experience, and registration to practice before the USPTO. Excellent communication, research, and organizational skills are essential.
