AmLaw 50 law firm seeks a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property - Patents Practice. Hybrid role with multiple U.S. locations including NY.

Requires a STEM degree and 2+ years in patent prep and prosecution, with strengths in data science, ML/AI, IoT, optics, or related fields. The candidate will collaborate with inventors and attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications, perform searches, and contribute to portfolio management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Physics with excellent academic record
• 2+ years of substantive experience in patent preparation and prosecution
• Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, optics or related fields is highly advantageous
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and writing skills with attention to technical detail and organizational and communication abilities

Responsabilités

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management
