Job summary

A prominent international AmLaw 50 law firm is seeking a talented Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property (IP) - Patents Practice. Hybrid work arrangement with locations including NY.

The role targets candidates with a strong technical background in EE/CS/Physics and 2+ years in patent preparation and prosecution, with advantage for AI, ML, IoT, semiconductors and optics experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, AI, wireless, sensors, semiconductors, IoT, optics is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with inventors and attorneys to prepare and prosecute patent applications in emerging technology areas.
• Identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
• Perform novelty and clearance searches to delineate inventions from existing technologies.
• Draft comprehensive patent applications and negotiate the scope of patent rights with the USPTO.
• Prepare reports and support documentation for patent portfolio management.
