Job summary

Our client, a top AmLaw 100 firm, seeks a Patent Agent for its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science practice. The role involves prosecuting electrical/software inventions, advising inventors, and shaping IP strategy in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a technical degree, USPTO admission, and 2+ years in patent prosecution, with strong writing and communication skills and familiarity with AI/ML and security tech. Hybrid office locations in SF, LA, and more.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Admission to practice before the USPTO is required.
• 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AI/ML, telecommunications, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and hardware security solutions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
• Work with inventors and clients to identify and protect valuable IP.
• Draft patent applications involving electrical, software, communications, and computer technologies.
• Analyze inventions and develop strategic patent protection recommendations.
• Conduct patentability assessments and support portfolio development.
• Collaborate with attorneys and technical professionals on domestic and international matters.
