Job summary

TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. is seeking an in-house Patent Agent to join our team at the Anderson, South Carolina office. The role involves managing patent clearance, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and advising engineers and business teams on patentability strategies.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, is USPTO-licensed, and has 3–5 years of patent practice experience. Travel is limited.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• 3–5 years of experience as a patent practitioner in a law firm or corporate setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent clearance and patent application prep and prosecution.
• Advise business and engineering personnel on clearance, patentability, and strategies.
• Conduct invention mining and brainstorming with TTICPT staff.
• Perform patent clearance and patentability searches.
• Help manage portions of TTICPT’s patent portfolio.
• Monitor competitors and participate in IP Steering Committee meetings.
• Contribute to optimizing processes and procedures.

TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc., is seeking to fill an in-house Patent Agent position located at its Anderson, South Carolina office. TTI CPT is a global leader in quality consumer and professional power tools and outdoor products, designing and developing products under brands including RYOBI and RIDGID.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage product clearance and patent application preparation and prosecution.
• Advise TTICPT business and engineering personnel in matters of product clearance, patentability, and related strategies.
• Conduct invention mining and brainstorming sessions with TTICPT personnel.
• Conduct patent clearance and patentability searches.
• Manage portions of TTICPT’s patent portfolio.
• Conduct competitor monitoring.
• Participate in IP Steering Committee Meetings.
• Contribute to optimizing processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast-pace environment.
