Job summary

TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. in Anderson, SC seeks an in-house Patent Agent to manage patent applications, office actions, and portfolio strategy.

You will advise engineering and business teams on patentability, clearance, and IP risk management. The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, USPTO registration, 3–5 years of patent practice, and strong written/verbal advocacy, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO.
• 3–5 years of patent practitioner experience in law firm and/or corporate setting.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal advocacy skills.
• Self-motivated with ownership and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage product clearance and patent application preparation and prosecution.
• Advise TTICPT business and engineering personnel in matters of product clearance, patentability, and related strategies.
• Conduct invention mining and brainstorming sessions with TTICPT personnel.
• Conduct patent clearance and patentability searches.
• Manage portions of TTICPT’s patent portfolio.
• Conduct competitor monitoring.
• Participate in IP Steering Committee Meetings.
• Contribute to optimizing processes and procedures.
