Job summary

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef to assist the Executive Pastry Chef in directing bake shop operations, ensuring proper preparation of all pastries for our resort dining and banquet services. You will lead and support associates while upholding our Promise: Lead with Love.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a high-volume bakery or other dining venue working in varied kitchen positions including food preparation, baking, and cake decorating.
• 1 year of culinary supervisory experience in food service, fine dining, or restaurant preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Leadership style rooted in collaboration, respect, and service to others.

Pastry Sous Chef

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef. In this role, you will assist the Executive Pastry Chef in the direction and management of all bake shop operations and associates, ensuring the proper preparation of all baked items for the Resort’s restaurants, food and beverage outlets, and banquet day-to-day pastry production and operations.

Salary Range - $65,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
• Instruct and train bakery associates on the proper procedures and techniques for the creation of attractive, professional pastry items.
• Inspect all bakery items upon completion to ensure they have been prepared correctly and attractively.
• Continually monitor business flow and work with the Executive Pastry Chef in scheduling associates according to demand for bakeshop goods.
