Job summary

Grand Central Bakery in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Pastry Lead to guide the café pastry team, set pars and order pastries, and ensure quality, timing, and customer service. The role also trains staff and coordinates with Commissary Pastry to maintain product knowledge and sourcing.

The position reports to the Café Manager, oversees all pastry operations, and focuses on safety, high standards, and DEI values while delivering delicious pastries and a welcoming experience for customers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English required.
• HS diploma/GED preferred.
• Professional baking experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled days and being on time.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with the café team and filters feedback to the Café Manager.
• Leads new hire and ongoing training in pastry baking operations and sourcing.
• Sets pars, ordering and invoicing for Commissary Pastry and ingredients.
• Meets café pastry cost goals and handles specials/new product rollout.
• Maintains equipment and cleanliness in the baking area and trains staff on safety.
• Ensures high quality food and communicates product information to staff and customers.
• Leads team in delivering excellent customer service per company standards.
• Trains and coaches team members and escalates personnel matters when needed.
