Job summary

DO & CO AG is hiring a Pastry Helper to join our New York culinary team. You will assist with fruit preparation, cutting techniques, and maintaining sanitary, organized workstations in a fast-paced kitchen.

The role requires knife skills, attention to detail, and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Medical benefits and career development opportunities are available for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in fruit preparation or similar kitchen environment.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Familiar with different produce-cutting techniques and knife safety.
• Ability to stand and perform repetitive prep tasks over an eight-hour shift.
• Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, trim, slice, and dice produce per production requirements.
• Prepare produce using uniform cuts (slices, dices, julienne, wedges).
• Use knives and prep tools safely and correctly.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and areas clean and organized.
• Inspect produce for freshness and quality before preparation.
• Assist with inventory and notify supervisor when stock is low.
• Minimize waste by proper preparation and portioning.
• Follow food safety regulations and report concerns to management.
• Support a cooperative kitchen environment and perform additional duties.

We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and motivated Pastry Helper to join our growing New York culinary team!

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, trim, slice, chop, dice, and shred fruits according to production requirements.
• Prepare produce using various cutting techniques, including uniform slices, dices, julienne cuts, wedges, and other specified styles.
• Use knives, peelers, slicing equipment, and other food-preparation tools safely and correctly.
• Ensure all cuts are accurate, consistent, and completed according to recipe and presentation specifications.
• Inspect produce for freshness, quality, and suitability before preparation.
• Measure and mix ingredients as directed by the supervisor or culinary team.
• Assist with inventory and help ensure the department remains properly stocked.
• Notify the supervisor when ingredients, products, or supplies are running low.
• Minimize food waste by following proper preparation, trimming, portioning, and storage procedures.
• Keep workstations, equipment, tools, and preparation areas clean, sanitary, and organized.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations outlined in the Food Safety Management System handbook.
• Report food safety, product quality, or operational concerns to management and the Hygiene and Food Safety team.
• Support a positive, cooperative, and efficient kitchen environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in fruit preparation, food production, or a similar kitchen environment preferred.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Familiarity with different produce-cutting and slicing techniques.
• Knife skills and experience using food-preparation equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, consistency, cleanliness, and product quality.
• Service-oriented, dependable, and collaborative.
• Comfortable performing repetitive preparation tasks throughout an eight-hour shift.
• Capable of standing for extended periods and safely lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products or supplies.
• Willing to work in environments with varying temperatures, including refrigerated and warm production areas.
• Flexible availability, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
