Job summary

The Modern, a Michelin-starred restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is seeking a Pastry Cook. You will prepare pastry items for service, maintain mise en place, and contribute to a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience as a Pastry Cook.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
• English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Demonstrate understanding of baking and pastry techniques, production, and proper use of kitchen equipment.
• Maintain mise en place prepped, seasoned, and prepared to standards at service start.
• Maintain knowledge of seasonal ingredients used in our cuisine.
• Participate in service, restock stations, and assist with last-minute or special-order prep.
• Communicate effectively with all teams during the day and service.
• Keep a neat work area, follow recipes, portioning, storage, and FIFO to minimize waste.
