Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts is seeking a kitchen/pastry professional at The Historic Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. The role focuses on preparing desserts from scratch, maintaining quality, and operating pastry equipment. Strong dexterity and the ability to lift up to 100 lbs are required.

One year pastry experience and a Food Handler hygiene certificate are preferred. Culinary/pastry degree is a plus, with opportunities for growth in a luxury hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year pastry operation experience, desserts from scratch.
• Food Handler hygiene certificate required.
• Able to multitask between preparation and service.
• Able to lift/carry items up to 100 lbs.
• Culinary/pastry degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipes and standards.
• Start items ahead of time and rotate perishables; date all containers.
• Check pars for shift use; determine prep, freezer pull and line setup.
• Maintain buffet stock and cover/date perishables.
• Assist in controlling food costs and reducing waste.
• Operate and clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, mixer, slicer and other equipment.
