Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a Pastry Cook to produce a variety of baked goods for dining and retail outlets on property. You will measure ingredients, monitor ovens, decorate pastries, and help develop artisanal breads and desserts.

The role requires 3–5 years of baking experience, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and ServSafe certification. Training staff and maintaining safety standards are key responsibilities in a full-time Ozark, Missouri setting.

Qualifications

  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification required or preferred.
  • 3–5 years baking experience.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pastry Cook will produce a variety of baked goods for various dining and retail outlets on property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients accuratelyKnead, roll, cut, and prepare doughMonitor oven temperatures, speed settings, mixing machines, and other baking equipmentMonitor food items during the baking processDecorate, glaze, apply icing, and prepare toppings for baked goodsTrain new staff on company philosophies, practices, and productsEvaluate food ingredients for qualityOperate slicing, cutting, and wrapping equipment while observing consistently all company mandatory safety regulationsCreate new recipes, incorporating locally milled flours, regional produce and seasonal products as part of menu developmentEnsure food surfaces and baking equipment meet all health and safety standardsClean and maintain baking equipment, utensils, and toolsOrder and receive supplies and materials as neededCoordinate deliveries with Executive Chef and Purchasing departmentPerform other tasks as assigned

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or EquivalentPreferred Degree: Trade, Tech or Vocational Education in Culinary Arts – Baking & Pastry (if applicable)Certificate(s) or License(s): ServSafe Food Handler CertificationYears of experience: 3-5

Duties will range from creative to redundant with medium to large volume baking on a daily basis.Knowledgeable of kitchen baking equipment and its safe and efficient operationAbility to deal effectively with customers and other company personnel and work with others proficiently in a close environment with speed and efficiencyAbility to assess the quality of products and adjust preparation to maintain consistency and guest satisfactionThis individual should be interested in producing artisanal quality bread and is forward thinking in his/her craft.
