We are currently seeking a Pastry Cook at our Houston-Woodway community. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of high-quality pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts, while maintaining a clean, organized workspace and adhering to established recipes and production standards. This role also involves inventory management, equipment operation, and the opportunity to contribute to recipe development. The Pastry Cook reports directly to our Executive Chef with a dotted line to our Sous Chefs who oversee day-to-day operations of the community's Food & Beverage department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, and other desserts
  • Operate ovens and other baking equipment to bake pastries according to required temperatures and timings
  • Follow established recipes and culinary guidelines
  • Create new recipes as needed
  • Maintain the bake shop clean and in working order
  • Maintain assigned inventory organized and accounted for
  • Participate in counting inventory every month
  • Maintain production levels as assigned
  • Ensuring consistency in quality and appearance of all baked goods

Required

  • At least 3 years of experience working in a high-volume bakery/dessert operation
  • Knowledge of baking, pastry, bread-making, and desserts
  • Knowledge of reading and scaling recipes
  • Accurately measuring and weighing all necessary ingredients for products, including flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and flavorings
  • Knowledge of cooking equipment including ovens, ranges, induction burners, mixers, food processors, scales, and other tools
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks
  • Available to work weekends, early mornings, and holidays
