Make My Cake is a bakery that has been serving Harlem for 30 years, known for our scratch-made cakes, cupcakes, and Southern-style desserts. As we prepare to expand into wholesale and eCommerce, we're looking for a Pastry Chef & Kitchen Operations Manager to join our leadership team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who:

• Has graduated from culinary or baking school or have 5 years of professional baking experience
• Thrives in a retail bakery environment
• Is excited to help build out wholesale and online production systems

You'll lead daily kitchen operations, supervise staff, and work closely with ownership to scale our bakery into the next phase.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead morning baking and oversee daily production for retail, custom, and online orders
• Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring quality and workflow efficiency
• Train team members and handle recruitment and hiring of new kitchen staff
• Manage inventory, receive deliveries, and prepare ingredient orders
• Coordinate with ownership on wholesale and eCommerce planning
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and kitchen organization
• Review sales/orders and prep production plans for the next day

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a professional bakery or formal training from a culinary/baking school
• Experience in decorating cakes with buttercream frostings
• Experience supervising kitchen teams
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Bonus: experience with wholesale or high-volume production

Salary is competitive and will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
