Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer to support external customers in designing passive optical networks and generating BOMs for Fiber-to-the-Home deployments, MDUs, FTTB and other access networks.

You will collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Customer Care to deliver technically sound solutions, train customers, and drive strong business relationships while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree required.
• Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimized passive optical network solutions for customers.
• Provide design support and maintain commercial relationships.
• Accompany sales on customer visits to present solutions and train.
• Conduct multiple design iterations to meet customer needs.
• Formulate technical solutions using core and new products.
• Balance optimized solutions with customer requirements and corporate goals.
• Maintain communication with internal teams during design.
• Collaborate in a team of design engineers to maximize efficiency.
• Handle special projects with travel or embedding with customers.
