Job summary

Jergens, Inc. in Cleveland, OH is seeking a heat treat/finish operator for the 2nd shift (Mon-Thu, 2:30pm–1am) with a 3-day weekend. You will operate furnaces and passivation equipment, maintain part traceability, and ensure AS9100 compliance while supporting production and quality teams.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heat treat furnaces and passivation equipment per documented instructions.
  • Monitor furnace temperatures, cycle parameters and process controls.
  • Complete routers, lot traceability records, inspection sheets and logs.
  • Verify part identification, job documentation and revision levels per AS9100.
  • Inspect parts before and after processing for defects or non-conformances.
  • Maintain traceability of parts, heat numbers and process batches.
  • Follow chemical handling procedures and monitor passivation baths.
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE with heat treating equipment and chemicals.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tanks, baskets and fixtures.
  • Coordinate with production, quality and planning to prioritize work.
  • Identify and report non-conforming material to supervisors or quality personnel.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas per 5S standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and efficiency.

Reports to: Production Supervisor
Responsibilities
  • Operate heat treat furnaces and passivation equipment in accordance with documented work instructions, specifications, and quality procedures and maintaining part identification and traceability.
  • Monitor and verify furnace temperatures, cycle parameters, and process controls to ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.
  • Accurately complete required documentation including routers, lot traceability records, inspection sheets, and process logs.
  • Verify part identification, job documentation, and revision levels prior to processing to ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Inspect parts before and after processing for visual defects, contamination, distortion, or non-conformances.
  • Maintain strict traceability of parts, material heat numbers, and process batches throughout the heat treat and passivation process.
  • Follow chemical handling procedures and maintain passivation solutions, including monitoring concentration levels and bath condition when applicable.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE when working with heat treating equipment, chemicals, and industrial machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tanks, baskets, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and planning teams to prioritize work and maintain workflow.
  • Identify and report non-conforming material or processing issues to supervisors or quality personnel.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, efficiency, and safety.
