Sharks Sports and Entertainment, LLC is seeking a Birthday Party Captain in Oakland Ice Center. This part-time, non-exempt role leads birthday parties, coordinates with the Party Coordinator, greets guests, runs games on and off the ice, handles skate fittings, and ensures a memorable experience for the birthday child and guests.

Shifts are primarily Friday through Sunday, with responsibilities including setup, food coordination, and post-party cleanup, all while delivering excellent customer

• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job that are physically demanding.

• Must be able to work in a cold environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow the party agenda and prep details with the Party Coordinator during pre-party briefing.
• Confirm food orders, party scheduling, and public session programming.
• Set up table decorations and party favors.
• Greet parents and guests and explain the party timeline.
• Assist in skate fittings and provide guidance as needed.
• Plan and run birthday games on and off the ice.
• Coordinate birthday groups to ensure participation and smooth flow of activities.
• Ensure proper cleanup and billing completion during/after the party.

Title: Party Captain

Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $20.43/per hour

Position Summary

The Birthday Party Captain, acting under the direction of the Party Coordinator and in tandem with Participant Development Manager, is the head of individual birthday parties. Party Captains will facilitate a memorable and fun party atmosphere for the attendees by confirming parties are properly set up, greeting guests, playing games, serving food, providing an introductory skating lesson, and party clean up. The captain has the duty to ensure each birthday child, family, and participants have a memorable and unique experience while visiting Sharks Ice.

Essential Functions

Party Preparation

• Follows details/script of the party agenda given by the Party Coordinator during pre-party briefing.
• Confirm food orders, party scheduling, and public session programming with Party Coordinator.
• Sets up table decorations and party favors.
• Assist in any area of preparation when needed.

Party Execution

• Ensures party areas are clean and prepared in a timely manner before, during, and after the party.
• Greets parents, birthday person, and children when they arrive. Shows family where their party will be held and explains timeline.
• Fits and ties skates for party participants.
• Give off ice and on ice verbal instructions according to party agenda.
• Plans and executes several birthday games to take place both on and off the ice, as well as the party area according to party agenda.
• Coordinate birthday group in a manner during the party ensuring everyone participate in all the scheduled activities with special attention given to the birthday child.
• Ensure the party contact settles any remaining portion of their bill.
• Ensure party rooms are cleaned, and all tables and chairs are put away. This includes continuous clearing of the plates, cups, table ware and garbage during the party.
• Cleans up after party.
• Ensures the highest level of customer service (i.e. record gift list, offer to take photos etc.)
• Ability to work in a team of Party Captains with direction from the Party Coordinator to ensure an enjoyable and cohesive party experience.
• Perform additional duties as required.
