CITY RESIDENCY REQUIRED

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC WORKS / FLEET SERVICES

LOCATION: 3505 N. DRIES LANE, PEORIA, ILLINOIS

HOURS: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Monday through Friday

This is specialized technical parts store work involving procuring and issuing fleet parts, tools, and supplies for equipment maintenance personnel. Responsibilities include utilizing the central computerized purchasing system, maintaining manual and computerized records, managing inventories, and performing special projects. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Fire Chief with independent judgment exercised in purchasing decisions and priority setting.

EMPLOYEE'S MUST RESIDE WITHIN THE CITY OF PEORIA. AN EMPLOYEE'S UNAUTHORIZED RESIDENCY OUTSIDE THE CITY OF PEORIA SHALL BE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.

Examples of Duties

• Procure parts and supplies required for division functions.
• Obtain prices or bids on materials prior to purchase.
• Receive items from vendors.
• Maintain proper inventory levels.
• Pick up emergency parts and supplies as needed.
• Return unneeded parts to vendors.
• Record items in stock on inventory cards.
• Interview vendors and maintain relationships.
• Check computer for stock levels and part locations.
• Maintain parts and equipment manuals.
• File completed job orders and data sheets.
• Keep the parts room clean and organized.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; two to four years of related experience; valid State Driver's License. Equivalent education, training, and experience considered.
