Job summary

Alamo Group is seeking a parts specialist in Wooster, OH to assist customers by processing parts orders and quotes, researching technical information, and expediting orders. You will answer calls and emails, provide pricing and availability, and support returns or substitutions while maintaining strong product knowledge across lines.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and general technical knowledge of mobile equipment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Must have good mathematical skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word; JD Edwards/ERP experience preferred.
  • Self-driven, team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Process parts orders and requests for quotes in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Assist customers by phone and email with product information and pricing.
  • Expedite orders and track status; respond to export or substitution requests.
  • Research technical information and coordinate with other departments as needed.
  • Develop parts knowledge across product lines and suggest parts products.
  • Interpret manuals, BOMs, picklists and maintenance instructions.
  • Promote special order programs to maximize sales and maintain stock levels.

Job description

Under general supervision , the parts specialist is responsible for assist ing customers by processing parts orders and requests for quotes, researching technical information, answering incoming phones and email inquiries, expediting orders, and other tasks as assigned, while providing excellent customer service and maximizing part sales.

Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Answer telephone and e-mail inquiries concerning product information in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Performs various customer service functions including answering incoming customer calls , order entry, expediting /tracking parts orders, technical support and parts research.
  • Research information and communicates with other departments as necessary, in responding to customer inquiries.
  • Develop parts knowledge of all product lines and applications and able to make parts product suggestions.
  • Ability to interpret and understand operator manuals, bill s of material (BOM) , picklists, parts books, parts operating manuals and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to think and react quickly to customer needs or seek the answer to secure orders in short turnaround times .
  • Provide part pricing and availability information as requested for customer quotes.
  • Assist customers with product returns or substitutio ns.
  • Frequently review the open parts order report and follow up with customer order processing.
  • Evaluate orders that are on “ special order holds ” .
  • May assist in analyzing parts delivery performance.
  • May promote special order programs to customers maximizing sale potential.
  • A ssist s in the maintenance of an acceptable stock level for branch inventory .
  • May be assigned additional responsibilities as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and general technical knowledge of mobile equipment required .
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills .
  • Must have good mathematical skills.
  • Must have good business acumen.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, o bjectives , policies, and procedures .
  • Develop and present ideas and findings to peers and management.
  • Computer proficiency using Ou t look, Excel and Word . P revious experience with order processing systems; ERP software and JD Edwards desired .
  • Self-driven and works collaboratively with others . Is respectful and keeps a professional demeanor, capable of managing and preventing conflict .
  • Must be results -oriented individual with a clear focus on business and profitability .
  • Adaptable to change and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to initiate projects without supervision.
  • Ability to walk frequently in and around the warehouse facility.
  • M ay occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Must be dependable and able to work overtime , as needed.
