Job summary

Silgan Closures in Richmond, IN is seeking a Purchasing & Parts Attendant to oversee maintenance parts inventory, create purchase orders, and ensure materials are available to keep production running smoothly.

You will collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, and accounting teams, use ERP and MS Office, and bring 3+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing purchasing and inventory control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, warehouse operations, materials management, or manufacturing.
• Experience with purchase orders, inventory systems, and vendor coordination.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience using ERP, inventory management, or purchasing systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude to identify maintenance parts.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Purchase, track, and maintain inventory of maintenance parts, consumables, and plant supplies.
• Create and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
• Receive, inspect, store, and issue parts and materials to support maintenance and production operations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP and inventory management systems.
• Coordinate with vendors, manage deliveries, and support vendor-managed inventory programs.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment needs to prevent equipment downtime.
• Review equipment documentation and part specifications to source replacement components.
• Perform administrative and inventory-related activities using Microsoft Office and purchasing systems.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, accounting, and operations teams to support plant needs.
