Summary:
The Parts Counterperson provides exceptional service at the parts counter, assisting customers with inquiries, processing orders, and ensuring the seamless flow of parts to our service technicians. The role involves maintaining optimal inventory levels, collaborating with vendors, and staying informed about automotive advancements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers at the parts counter, addressing inquiries, and offering expert advice on parts selection.
- Handle phone inquiries and provide information on parts availability, pricing, and compatibility.
- Efficiently and accurately process parts orders, ensuring timely delivery to customers and service technicians.
- Collaborate with vendors and maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing parts shipments.
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Conduct regular stock checks, reconcile discrepancies, and update inventory records in the dealership's system.
- Utilize technical knowledge to assist customers and technicians in identifying correct parts for repairs and maintenance.
- Stay informed about new products and automotive parts advancements to provide up-to-date information.
- Handle cash and process payments accurately, providing receipts for transactions.
- Collaborate with service and sales departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of parts orders.
- The Parts Counterperson is responsible for picking up and delivering parts and executing assigned tasks set by the department manager, including administering internal procedures and reports.
- Coordinate last-minute pick-ups or deliveries with relevant personnel before leaving.
- Check with the body shop for immediate parts needs.
- Deliver parts to the body shop and distribute to technicians.
- Verify invoices match purchase orders for each pick-up.
- Check payments received against invoices for each delivery.
- Keep an accurate log of daily deliveries and pickups, collecting signatures as proof of delivery.
- Unload deliveries, process paperwork, and handle undelivered parts.
- Perform basic maintenance on delivery trucks (fueling, oil checks, organization).
- Report major repairs or maintenance needs of delivery trucks to the parts manager.
- Assist the service department with responsibilities related to customer vehicle drop-offs and pickups.
- Help stock and post orders upon receipt to expedite delivery to technicians and wholesale accounts.
- Follow all safety policies and report accidents immediately.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 1+ years of experience in an automotive dealership parts department.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and assist effectively.
- Knowledge of automotive parts and their applications.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Authorized to work in the USA.
- Willing to undergo pre-employment compliance requirements: drug testing, background check, MVR.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 5 days a week with 2 days off.
- Weekend availability required.
