Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is hiring a Parts Counter Sales associate in Quincy, IL. You will be at the center of our operation, helping customers find the right parts and supporting our service team to ensure right parts are available when needed.

You will become the go-to parts expert, developing strong product and inventory knowledge to help customers and technicians efficiently. This role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and professional service.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a parts department or similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of Class 8 truck parts and automotive parts preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional interaction with customers, technicians, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service at the parts counter, over the phone, and via electronic requests.
  • Identify, research, and locate correct parts to meet customer and technician needs.
  • Pull, stage, and deliver parts to technicians to support repairs.
  • Receive shipments, stock inventory, and organize the warehouse for easy part retrieval.
  • Build relationships with customers, technicians, service writers, vendors, and team members.

Parts Counter Sales - As a Parts Counter Sales team member, you’ll be at the center of our operation—helping customers find the right solutions, supporting our service team, and making sure the right parts are available when they’re needed. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where your parts knowledge, customer service skills, and attention to detail make a difference every day.

You’ll also become a go-to resource and subject matter expert on parts, developing a strong understanding of our products, applications, inventory, and parts systems. Your expertise will help customers and technicians find the right parts quickly and accurately while supporting the overall success of the dealership.

Pay Range: $20.00–$24.50/hour
Starting pay is based on skills, certifications, education, and relevant experience.

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday work (approximately every third Saturday) based on staffing needs.

What You’ll Do

Be the connection between customers, technicians, and the parts that keep everything moving!

  • Deliver outstanding customer service — assist customers at the parts counter, over the phone, and through electronic requests with professionalism and urgency.
  • Be a parts problem-solver — identify, research, and locate the correct parts to meet customer and technician needs.
  • Keep the shop moving — pull, stage, and deliver parts to technicians to help complete repairs efficiently.
  • Manage the parts flow — receive shipments, stock inventory, organize the warehouse, and keep parts easy to find.
  • Build relationships — work closely with customers, technicians, service writers, vendors, and team members to provide the right solutions.
  • Maintain accuracy and organization — assist with inventory control, parts tracking, and keeping the department running smoothly.
  • Take pride in your work — help create a clean, organized, and professional parts department that customers and technicians can count on.
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in a parts department, automotive/heavy-duty parts environment, warehouse, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Class 8 truck parts, and/or automotive parts preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist customers, technicians, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Ability to accurately identify, locate, order, and distribute parts using catalogs, computer systems, and inventory software.
  • Experience taking parts orders in person, over the phone, and through electronic requests.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate inventory and organize parts efficiently.
  • Ability to receive, inspect, stock, and put away incoming parts shipments.
  • Ability to pull, stage, and deliver parts to technicians and service departments as needed.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, internet research, and accurate data entry, with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use dealership parts, inventory, and business management systems.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and committed to providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle parts and materials as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record that meets company insurability requirements.

Physical Requirements - This is an active role for someone who likes to stay moving:

  • Hands-on work handling, reaching, and organizing parts
  • Regular walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Lifting requirements:
    • Regularly lift up to 25 lbs
    • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs
    • Occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
  • Good close-up and distance vision to keep things accurate and efficient
