Job summary

Swift Transportation is hiring a Part Assistant in West Valley City, UT. The role supports daily parts control, inventory maintenance, and procurement to keep operations running smoothly.

Typical shift is Mon-Fri, 7:00 am–4:00 pm with an hourly pay range of $19–$25. Overtime eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package are offered by the company.

Qualifications

• Valid driver license required.
• Background check and pre-employment hair follicle drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Assist management with parts control and daily inventory operations.
• Maintain inventory levels, monitor high-volume and obsolescence parts, and follow internal control procedures.
• Procure parts using approved low-cost providers and update procedures as needed.
• Process parts returns, review warranty tags, and coordinate with shippers/vendors.
• Identify shortages, overages, and pricing discrepancies and escalate for resolution.
• Support and cover for Parts Manager or Parts Coordinator as needed.

Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Assist management with parts control through the performance of daily operations and maintenance of inventory levels.

• Perform inventory control; maintain proper inventory levels by monitoring inventory items to identify high volume parts as well as obsolescence parts. Adhere to standard internal control procedures.
• Purchase parts and supplies through the use of Fleet Assist auto-generated and approved low-cost provider procedures. Maintain and update auto-generated parts procedures as necessary.
• Monitor and handle parts returns; review warranty tags, store and organize returned parts accordingly and conduct follow up to ensure returned parts are handled appropriately. Collaborate with internal department personnel and outside shippers/vendors as necessary.
• Recognize shortages, overages and pricing discrepancies; communicate with appropriate management to facilitate problem resolution and correction of parts ordering.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management, including but not limited to, performing the daily functions required of and filling in for the Parts Manager or Parts Coordinator in their absence.
