Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of NE Florida is seeking a Certified Teacher for Oceanway Elementary in Jacksonville. This part-time role focuses on tutoring, homework help, and reading enrichment for youth ages 6 to 18, with programs designed to promote safe, structured activities and supportive guidance.

The position emphasizes curriculum familiarity, classroom management, and collaboration with volunteers to deliver age-appropriate, goal-oriented activities 2.5 to 3 hours daily after school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a valid Florida teaching certificate or National Teaching Accreditation.
• Ability to pass DCF Level II background screening and drug test.
• Knowledge of youth development and ability to motivate youth.
• Ability to work with the public and supervise youth in a safe environment.
• Ability to plan and implement quality educational programs for youth aged 6 to 18.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual tutoring and homework assistance to Club members and assist volunteers.
• Design, plan and facilitate activities around homework to boost interest and enrichment.
• Provide tutoring for high-risk students and assist with special homework assignments.
• Become familiar with current textbooks and learning materials used by students.
• Ensure programs promote safety, positive behavior, and character development; monitor and evaluate program achievement.
