Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware’s Brandywine YMCA in Wilmington, DE is seeking an Early Childhood Intern for the Brandywine location. This part-time role supports child care activities under direct supervision and provides hands-on experience in early childhood settings.

You will assist with daily care, classroom activities, and observation of children's progress, while meeting licensing requirements and completing required trainings and background checks. Pay is $15.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must meet licensing requirements and age eligibility.
• Completion of at least 15 clock hours of quality assured training in early care & education.
• Completion of at least three college or university credits in child development or early childhood education.
• Must complete physical & tuberculosis screening with physician documentation within 30 days of hire.
• Criminal history/background check as required by Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children, classroom, and activities under supervision.
• Provide daily care including diapering, toileting, feeding, and social/emotional support.
• Encourage and engage children in classroom activities and transitions.
• Assist in planning and participating in daily age-appropriate activities to ensure learning opportunities.
• Observe children and document progress and development.
