Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro invites applications for a Youth Development Professional (YDP). This part-time role supports after-school programs across multiple CA sites, supervising youth and delivering engaging activities in a safe environment.

The YDP will plan age-appropriate lessons, mentor youth, and collaborate with a team to meet program goals. Prior experience is not required, but a passion for youth development and a diverse, inclusive approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Entry level role; no prior youth-work experience required.
• Multilingual language skills (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog) are a huge plus.
• Candidates with coursework in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields will be given preference.

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Safety: Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for youth participants.
• Program Facilitation: Create and lead engaging afterschool programs and activities for a group of approximately 20 students.
• Lesson Planning: Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote personal growth, educational achievement, and character development.
• Ad Hoc Projects as Needed: May need to partake in additional duties due to site/ratio needs.
• Temporary Site-Support as Needed: Travel to other sites in the district if needed to ensure ratio needs are met.
