Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is hiring a Youth Development Leader for our before/after school and day camp programs in Houston, TX. This part-time role focuses on safety, engagement, and creating a fun, learning-friendly environment for youth.

Starting pay is $13.00 per hour, with an additional $3.00 per hour stipend for employees at eligible locations. Candidates should be at least 18, have a HS diploma, and be able to obtain CPR/First Aid.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Maintain youth safety through supervision, headcounts, and YMCA policies.
• Guide positive behavior using constructive techniques.
• Lead activities and adapt to diverse needs of each child.
• Model YMCA values in all interactions.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe space.
• Build relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures and vigilant supervision.
