Job summary

Advocate Health's Radiology department is seeking a part-time Radiologic Technologist to operate X-ray equipment, produce diagnostic radiographs, and ensure patient safety. The role requires ARRT certification, state licensure, and familiarity with RIS/PACS systems.

Shifts are primarily midshift or PM with weekend, call and holiday rotation. The position may be at Sherman Hospital or offsite locations, and CPR certification must be maintained.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible. For new graduates, ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician.
• Adheres to infection prevention, isolation and sterile techniques as it applies in patient handling and delivery of care.
• Adheres to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient and others.
• Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time.
• Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to patient in a manner to ensure understanding, ensures patient comfort during performance of exam.
• Adherence to department standards of radiographic quality and maintains equipment cleanliness and supplies.
