Job summary

Grayson College seeks a Writing Center Staff member for a part-time position (19 hours or less per week) at $23.00 per hour. The role provides instructional aid and tutoring for academic and professional writing, with duties in tutoring, lab support, and materials preparation.

Responsibilities include assisting students in person or by email, supporting INRW corequisite labs, supervising peer tutors, and maintaining records. A background check is required for this security-sensitive role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English or related field is required.
• MA in English or related field is preferred.
• Experience with Adult Education or College Readiness programs is preferred.
• Ability to clearly communicate concepts to students of varying backgrounds and levels of writing.

Responsibilities

• 40% Tutors students in person or by email, assisting with study skills and basic technical needs.
• 15% Aids Corequisite students in College Preparedness and INRW corequisite labs.
• 15% Supervises and trains peer tutors.
• 15% Prepares handouts and supplemental data.
• 10% Maintains accurate records of student assistance and printing funds.
• 5% Performs other related duties as assigned by Writing Center Coordinator.
