Job summary

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking qualified applicants to establish a pool for part-time hourly Writing Center tutors. Tutors will work primarily in-person at the Writing Center, with occasional virtual sessions conducted via Microsoft Teams.

All tutors will also engage with online writing submissions. Rate of pay: $21.41 per hour for BA/BS, $23.91 per hour for MA/MS, with work requiring effective communication and guidance for student writers.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in English required for minimum qualification.
• 1 year of tutoring or teaching writing in a high school or college setting.
• MA/MS in English or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring to students in-person and virtually.
• Assist students with online writing submissions.
• Support students in brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising.
• Guide students on resumes, cover letters, and scholarship applications.
• Maintain a supportive learning environment and collaborate with staff.
• Participate in periodic reviews of tutoring needs.
