Job summary

Southcentral KY Community & Technical College is seeking a Part-Time Writing Tutor to support student writing across subjects. The role is on-site in the Academic Services department with 10–20 hours per week at $15 per hour, non-exempt status, and reporting to the Tutor Coordinator.

Responsibilities include one-on-one or small group tutoring, in-person or virtual sessions, and participation in training, scheduling, and outreach to promote student success.

Qualifications

• Grade of an A or B in ENG 101 and ENG 102.
• Successful completion of 12+ college credits at an accredited college.
• Overall college GPA 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Writing tutors help students strengthen their writing skills, build academic confidence, and develop strategies for planning, drafting, revising, and editing assignments.
• They provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in person or virtually while creating a welcoming environment where students feel supported and encouraged.
• The position reports to the Tutor Coordinator and provides tutoring support through the Learning Commons.
• Tutors meet with students one-on-one or in small groups in person or virtually.
• Additional responsibilities include attending training sessions, logging tutoring appointments in Starfish, maintaining communication with staff, participating in program feedback and meetings, and completing weekly outreach and intervention efforts to support student engagement and success.
