Job summary

Grayson College is seeking a part-time Writing Center Staff member to provide instructional aid and tutoring to students in writing. The position offers up to 19 hours per week with an hourly wage of $23.00, supporting in-person and email tutoring.

The role includes assisting Corequisite students, supervising peer tutors, and preparing handouts and materials. Responsibilities also include maintaining records of student assistance, managing printing funds, and potential adjunct duties for INRW

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English or related field is required.
MA in English or related field is preferred.
Experience with Adult Education, Corequisite program or College Readiness programs is preferred.
Ability to clearly communicate and explain concepts to students of varying academic backgrounds and levels of writing.
Patience and encouragement when working with students.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

40% Tutors students in person or by email. Assists students with study skills and helps with limited and basic technical needs.
15% Aids Corequisite students in College Preparedness in the Writing Center and INRW corequisite lab environments.
15% Supervises and trains peer tutors.
15% Prepares handouts and supplemental data.
10% Maintains accurate records of students assisted and manages student printing and printing funds.
5% Performs other related duties as assigned by Writing Center Coordinator.
