Job summary

CareMed seeks a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to deliver wound care in long-term care facilities. The NP will diagnose and treat wounds, prescribe medications (including controlled substances per AR law), and coordinate care with the facility staff.

Applicants must hold an Arkansas NP license with board certification. DEA licensure is optional, and a background in wound care and geriatric patients is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted NP license in Arkansas.
• Board Certification in a relevant NP specialty.
• DEA licensure is optional but preferred.
• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric care.
• Experience with wound care and chronic wounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide wound care services for long-term care patients in skilled nursing facilities.
• Prescribe medications in accordance with Arkansas law.
• Order and follow up on treatments and diagnostic tests.
• Communicate with nursing home staff about changes in condition and care plans.
• Collaborate with primary care physicians as part of an interdisciplinary team.

We are currently seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound services to patients living in long-term care facilities.

WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.

• Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with AR Law.

• Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing.

• Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed to discuss changes in condition.

• and/or the care plan.

• Collaborate with the primary care physician.
  

WOUND NP QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of Arkansas.

• Board Certification.

• DEA licensure (Optional)

• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.

• Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds

• Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.

• Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP

• Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.

• Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices

• Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified

• Experience working in a long-term care setting.

• Ability to work with an EMR.

• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
