Job summary

The University System of Maryland is seeking a part-time Web Content Specialist to support migrating content to the new WordPress site. The role involves content creation, editing, and publishing, with collaboration across IT and Communications and Marketing to ensure accessibility and brand alignment.

The position is 10-15 hours weekly with an initial contract through Dec 31, 2026 and potential renewal. Some in-office hours (Baltimore or Adelphi) may be required.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with web content best practices, including accessibility and usability.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and present information clearly for web pages.
• Experience formatting and publishing content in WordPress CMS.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building the USM WordPress site by supporting content migration and development.
• Create pages and layout updates using templates and patterns.
• Write, edit, and proofread content for clarity and brand voice.
• Collaborate with teams to translate content and migrate to the new site.
• Optimize content for readability, accessibility, and SEO.
• Review pages for errors, formatting issues, and broken links.
