The role supports WIC participants across multiple locations, including hospital and community clinics, with education and ongoing breastfeeding support.

The position requires empathy, reliable transportation, and basic computer skills to document contacts and coordinate care.

Qualifications

• Provides basic breastfeeding information and support to WIC participants.
• Communicates effectively with mothers and families.
• Maintains documentation in peer counselor database system.

Responsibilities

• Receives a caseload of WIC mothers and maintains contact.
• Delivers breastfeeding education in clinics, by phone, or during home visits.
• Assists with breastfeeding plans and goal setting with mothers.
• Attends staff meetings and breastfeeding conferences/workshops.
