Job summary

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District is looking for a part-time WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to support pregnant and lactating mothers in Champaign County. You will provide counseling through various modalities including face-to-face visits and phone support.

The ideal candidate should have personal breastfeeding experience, a valid driver’s license, and flexibility for remote work after training. The position offers competitive pay ranging from $16.71 to $22.56 per hour for a 21-hour week.

Qualifications

• Has personal experience successfully breastfeeding at least one infant for at least six months within the last five years.
• Available by phone outside regular clinic hours, including evenings and weekends.
• A valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Counsels pregnant and lactating WIC participants through various modalities.
• Provides basic breastfeeding information and support.
• Receives a caseload of WIC participants and maintains regular contact.
