Job summary

The City University of New York is seeking a part-time Web Developer to support the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism’s web assets. You will help with development, testing, maintenance, and enhancements, working closely with communications, marketing and technology staff to ensure assets are current and accessible.

You should have strong skills in WordPress, HTML/CSS, PHP, JavaScript and MySQL, plus experience with CMS systems and version control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Seven years of post-high school experience or equivalent combinations acceptable.
• Proven English language proficiency.
• New York State driver's license may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Supports day-to-day planning, coordination and maintenance of the school’s primary web assets.
• Develops strategic plans to facilitate web services delivery with college community.
• Coordinates and implements project plans for web initiatives and digital communications.
• Maintains open communication with communications and technology teams for efficient processes.
• Collaborates with designers, editors and staff on design, development and testing of web systems.
• Researches, selects, and maintains web-based applications integrated with data sources.
• Develops web development procedures, tools and documentation including source control.
• Participates in all phases of projects from development to production.
• Tracks new technologies and evaluates their fit for the web environment.
• Ensures software and databases stay current and perform adequately.
• Coordinates purchasing and budgeting activities for new technology.
• Advises school committees on web initiatives and projects.
• Supports disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Keeps up with tech developments and professional learning.
