Job summary

The City of New York's Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information seeks a skilled Webmaster to manage and optimize City websites within a government environment. You will ensure site functionality, accessibility, and compliance while supporting updates and publication workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, HCI, interactive media, data visualization, communication or related field with four years of experience.
  • Associate degree in related field with six years of full-time experience in the area.
  • Bachelor's degree with eight years of related experience; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience with CMS, web standards, and government/public sector environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support web content with blogs, RSS/news feeds, audio/video, and APIs.
  • Coordinate with bureaus to publish final versions of content.
  • Provide input on design, aesthetics, and web features within a government setting.
  • Review websites for timely, compliant information and policy adherence.
  • Maintain and enhance websites and web-based services.
  • Implement compliant links and upgrade websites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
