Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider the Vision Aide/Driver role in Springville. This position supports students with disabilities and requires travel to Salt Lake and surrounding areas, with part-time hours during the 26-27 school year.

The position is nine months (181 days) with a Monday–Friday schedule, roughly 29–30 hours weekly. A criminal background check is required, and benefits eligibility is limited as stated in the posting.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
• Techniques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom teachers.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
• Excited about working with students with disabilities.
• Positive in interactions with teachers and staff.
• Good listeners who follow directions well.
• Willing to be flexible in work tasks and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Drives a car or passenger van for transportation of staff.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency rules.
• Detects and eliminates safety hazards.
• Inspects vehicle for safety, fuel, oil and water before departure.
• Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under supervision.
• Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor.
• Perform duties related to motivation and achievement of students.
• Assist with behavior interventions under the instructor's direction.
• Provide support in a classroom environment with teachers and students.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Design and/or prepare training materials and teaching aides.
• Part-time nine months (181 days) with Monday–Friday schedule.
