Job summary

Causecollectivelincoln in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Medical Interpreter to join the health care team. The role provides oral interpretation and written translation for non-English speaking patients to ensure understanding of procedures and treatments.

You will interpret in person and by telephone, assist at the front desk, schedule and confirm appointments, and translate documents while upholding HIPAA and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Fluency in assigned language(s); speaking, reading, and writing required.
• Certified and/or trained as a medical interpreter.
• Experience interpreting in the healthcare field preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
• Excellent computer skills; experience with electronic health records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments for non-English speaking patients with the provider and the on-staff interpreter.
• Interpret medical and dental information for non-English speaking patients during clinic appointments.
• Provide interpretation in person and via telephone.
• Place confirmation calls to non-English speaking patients.
• Place follow-up calls to non-English speaking patients, as directed by the Provider.
• Translate and update documents, as requested.
• Track number of patients that receive Interpreter services, as requested.
• Abide by the NCIHC Interpreter Code of Ethics.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide timely interpretation and translation services.
• Answer phone calls promptly and manage emails from patients.
• Assist at the front desk with walk-in patients and paperwork.
