Job summary

JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic seeks a friendly Veterinary Receptionist to be the first point of contact for clients and their pets. This part-time role supports the veterinary team with essential administrative tasks and a welcoming, professional atmosphere.

The position is 20–25 hours per week, including two weekdays and a rotating Saturday, with responsibilities spanning check-in/out, scheduling, payments, records, and patient communication. Experience with animal care is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in an office setting in customer service and/or a reception capacity.
• Professional animal care experience is strongly preferred.
• Highly organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable interacting with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes.
• Passionate about animal welfare; treats all animals with compassion and kindness.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets warmly, creating a friendly first impression.
• Check clients in and out for appointments and manage the discharge process.
• Answer phones and respond to emails promptly and professionally.
• Schedule appointments using the practice management software.
• Process payments, invoices, and financial transactions per clinic protocols.
• Maintain up-to-date client records and registration forms.
• Communicate estimated wait times to clients throughout visits.
• Collaborate respectfully with veterinarians, technicians and staff.
• Remain calm and solution-focused when assisting distressed clients.
• Maintain reception area cleanliness and stock brochures, forms, and supplies.
• Assist with evacuation of all animals in case of an emergency.
