Job description

Part-Time Veterinary Care Concierge - Urgent Care

We are looking for a Part-Time Veterinary Care Concierge to join VCA Urgent Care hospital in Los Angeles, CA.

At VCA Animal Hospitals Urgent Care-Mar Vista, the Care Concierge plays a vital role in accomplishing our vision!

Are you customer-focused and enjoy providing top-notch client service and great communication? If so, we want to hear from you! We’re taking care of the future of veterinary medicine with an innovative approach to urgent care.

The Care Concierge is the primary point of contact for a client during an Urgent Care visit, helping to set expectations and ensure goals are met before checkout. This client service-based role serves as the liaison between a client and the medical team.

The Care Concierge sets the pace of our in-hospital experience. Successful Concierges quickly establish credibility and trust with clients, can manage multiple processes of the client journey, and bring pace and enthusiasm.

The clients are appreciative that there is a way for their pets to get the urgent care they need every day. Pet owners can join the virtual waiting room via the website and wait at home until they are notified via text to head into the hospital. This minimizes the wait time at the hospital and decreases the stress for the pet. The beautiful, well-designed lobby is where “coffee house meets spa” provides unique spaces for pets and their owners. There are no ringing phones, slippery floors, loud noises, or crowded waiting rooms. Once checked in, all communication (from exam through checkout) is done in a private exam room with an individual Care Concierge to support the client and medical team.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet clients and bring them into the exam room
  • Assist veterinarians by entering electronic medical records in real-time during the patient exam
  • Create, present, and explain treatment plans per the veterinarian’s direction
  • Keep the owner current with progress checks as a pet is receiving care
  • Coordinate with treatment teams to deliver a great treatment experience for the patient
  • Help provide exceptional patient care
  • Review discharge instructions, including medications, with clients
  • Checkout and collect payment in the exam room
  • Follow up with clients to check on patients and communicate any outstanding test results
  • Demonstrate excellent client and customer care

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in hospitality, customer service, patient care, or related industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of listening to client objectives and advocating on their behalf
  • Action-oriented, independent, and self-starter, but also a strong team player
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Strong computer and technology skills, ability to type 60wpm
  • Capable of learning medical terminology with support and direction
  • Comfortable around animals with a basic animal handling skillset and an aptitude to develop animal restraint techniques

Schedule: Part-time position available. The hospital is open 7 days a week, 10 am- 8 pm. Sunday and holiday coverage is required.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $16.50 - 22 / hour. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Benefits: Below are some of the many benefits of joining the VCA team for full-time associates (part-time benefits may vary)!

  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holiday pay
  • Free mental health sessions (Lyra) and wellness subscriptions (Head Space)
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance for you and your family
  • Health saving account, and Flexible spending account
  • Generous pet care discounts plus discounts on Mars, Royal Canin, and more
  • Life, short, and long-term disability insurance (company-paid)
