Job summary

Cary Grove Animal Hospital in Cary, IL, seeks a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our three-doctor practice. We are dedicated to exceptional patient care and client service, offering a fast-paced environment and a supportive team.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience, strong communication, and comfort with animal restraint. EMR experience and a passion for animal health are a plus.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience in a veterinary hospital.
• A strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable with animal restraint and handling.
• Basic knowledge of vaccines and common medications.
• A dependable and adaptable team player who brings energy and positivity to work.
• Experience with EMR/veterinary software.
• Knowledge of common diseases and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Running appointments and obtaining accurate patient histories.
• Client education on vaccines, preventatives, and wellness care.
• Reviewing treatment plans and estimates.
• Discharging patients and reviewing medications.
• Follow-up calls and client communication.
• Venipuncture and sample collection.
• Administering SQ injections and fluids.
• Lab sample preparation (fecal, urine, cytology).
• Cleaning and maintaining hospital areas.
