Job summary

Cary Grove Animal Hospital in Cary, IL is seeking a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant (10–20 hours/week, no weekends). Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience. Join a 3-doctor practice with advanced diagnostics and a supportive team.

Responsibilities include patient histories, client education, medication review, venipuncture, injections, radiography, and lab work. Prior veterinary assistant experience and EMR familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of veterinary assistant experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced setting.
• Comfort with animal restraint and handling.
• Basic knowledge of vaccines and common medications.
• Reliable, adaptable team player with energy and positivity; experience with EMR software.

Responsibilities

• Run appointments and obtain accurate patient histories.
• Educate clients on vaccines, preventatives and wellness care.
• Review treatment plans and estimates with clients.
• Discharge patients and review medications.
• Follow up with clients and coordinate communications.
• Perform venipuncture and sample collection.
• Administer SQ injections and fluids.
• Position radiographs and assist imaging.
• Prepare lab samples (fecal, urine, cytology).
• Keep hospital areas clean and organized.
