Job summary

San Francisco State University (via Sodexo) is seeking a part-time Utility Worker to support kitchen and facility operations, focusing on cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in food production and service areas. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment, floors, and storage spaces, plus assisting with setup and break-down tasks as needed.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, no prior experience required, and knowledge of sanitation procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• No related work experience.
• Knowledge of sanitation procedures, to include basic concepts of food safety.

Responsibilities

• Washes dishes by hand or uses a dishwashing machine.
• Clean and sanitize worktables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.
• Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors.
• Removes trash and garbage to designated areas.
• Cleans equipment using chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.
• Re-stock supplies such as soap, towels and cleaning materials.
• Significant walking or mobility.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods, may exceed 8 hours.
• Lift up to 35 pounds regularly, 50 pounds occasionally.
