Optum in Jericho, NY is seeking a part-time Urgent Care Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our team. The role supports reception duties, patient check-in, basic clinical tasks, and teamwork across the care team. Office hours include evenings; location is 555 North Broadway, Jericho, NY. Prior MA exposure preferred.

The position emphasizes compassionate patient service, accurate data entry, and adherence to Lean processes. Cross-training as a medical assistant is available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience.
• Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant.
• Ability to cover other offices if needed.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and check-in, verify demographics and insurance.
• Load/update insurance information.
• Answer calls for all specialties.
• Confirm and schedule appointments.
• Verify eligibility and authorization; flag appointments.
• Scan insurance cards and collect co-pays.
• Post payments and issue receipts in the PM system.
• Prepare exam rooms and document patient encounters in Epic.
• Triage tasks and assist providers with patient care.
• Cross-train as medical assistant as needed.
