UnitedHealth Group’s Optum NY/NJ seeks a friendly, patient-focused Part-Time Urgent Care Receptionist / Medical Assistant for Jericho, NY. The role supports front-office operations, patient check-in, insurance steps, scheduling, and basic clinical tasks in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The position requires a high school diploma and 1+ years of office or healthcare experience. Office hours include a 30-hour work week with evening and weekend shifts; insurance and EHR proficiency are valuable

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 1+ years of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• 1+ years of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Ability to be cross trained as a medical assistant.
• Ability to cover other offices if needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and conduct check-in and demographic data collection.
• Load or update insurance information and verify coverage.
• Answer calls promptly and schedule appointments.
• Verify eligibility and authorization and flag appointments accordingly.
• Scan insurance cards and collect co-pays and balances.
• Post payments and issue receipts in the practice management system.
• Assist with EHR tasks in Epic and coordinate patient records.
• Take vital signs and assist providers with patient care.
• Maintain exam rooms and prepare for patient visits.
• Perform basic lab testing and ensure proper specimen handling.
• Schedule using approved guidelines and cross-train as MA as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and deliver excellent service.
