Job summary

The Office of State Human Resources, in partnership with NC Commerce - Tourism, Film, and Sports Development, seeks a part-time Travel Counselor/Admin Associate for the Welcome Center in Norlina, NC. You will greet visitors, provide travel information, and assist with hotel and motel reservations.

This temporary role offers up to 32 hours per month, with Monday–Friday rotating shifts; weekend/holiday work required. No leave or retirement benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• High school or GED diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in public relations or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to learn and communicate general tourism information.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, answer questions about NC and its tourist facilities.
• Distribute information on attractions, events, accommodations; provide highway routes.
• Travel counselors make hotel/motel reservations.
• Maintain brochure displays and back stock; order replacements when needed.
• Participate in familiarization tours and share experiences with staff.
• Use available resources to satisfy visitor inquiries, including occasional school/civic group presentations.
• Work part-time hours up to 32 hours per month, Mon-Fri rotating shifts; weekends/holidays required.
